Have you completed your FY2015 E-rate reimbursement paperwork?
October 24, 2016

Please double-check the status of your FY2015 funding commitments to make sure reimbursement paperwork is completed or an invoice deadline extension request has been submitted - no later than this Friday, October 28, 2016.

October 28, 2016 is the deadline to submit invoices for Funding Year 2015 recurring telecommunications and Internet services. Be sure to ask for an invoice deadline extension if you have any doubt about your ability to complete the invoice process by Friday. There is concern this year that more funds will go unutilized because of challenges associated with USAC’s new payment processes – specifically the need for applicants to submit a Form 498 for electronic deposits and for Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) to be generated to anyone that doesn’t already have one. These extra steps are required for BEAR reimbursements and can take several days (weeks, in some cases) to be processed.

If you need to request an Invoice Deadline Extension, USAC released a new Invoice Deadline Extension tool late last week. Applicants access the tool here >>> BEAR Online System. This tool provides an easy method for applicants to request a one-time 120-day Invoice Deadline Extension and automatically approves or denies requests. Login and click the new Deadline Extension link. Here a user can enter an FRN, view the details, and submit a request for an extension. If a user has more than one FRN, a request for extension must be submitted for each one. An automatic approval/denial message will be sent via email (no-reply@solixinc.com) for each request. Applicants must have an online PIN to use this tool.

If you do not have a PIN and need to request an Invoice Deadline Extension, the old Submit a Question. method can still be used. Be aware that the old method takes longer to process requests and will not generate an automatic notification of approval/denial; however, multiple FRNs can be submitted at once. You can call USAC’s Client Service Bureau (888-203-8100) to request a PIN but, because it can take several days to receive your PIN, go ahead and use the old Submit a Question. method to request an invoice deadline extension, if needed.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to file an Invoice Deadline Extension Request for both methods. Please let us know if you have any questions about this process.

Thank you.
